18th November 2005 - The Strongroom, London:

What with this night falling within 24 hours of BSL co-organiser Maria's birthday, it rapidly descended into a messy, drunken business. Of course, given that that is precisely the purpose of the night, one could say that things went rather swimmingly.

Most gratifying was meeting the couple who had met at BSL #1 and were returning to celebrate some hitherto unknown, but undoubtedly-of-interest- to-the-bosses-of-Hallmark three-month anniversary.

Jim Dyson, warm up DJ from BSL #2, returned to spin more of his bottomless treasure-chest of post punk and new wave 45s. Eyes teared up in recollection of the heady days of, er, two months ago which we relived shamelessly. Only a bit colder, and with some new records.

Then after a brief set of birthday-orientated tunes (well, Goth, basically) from John D, Jeff Automatic - having sprinted across town from another DJ assignment - took to the decks. Rather cheekily bringing what looked like half of the other club's punters with him. Not that we were complaining.

By this time, it remarkable that the two Johns were capable of DJing at all, and their set unquestionably took some rather eccentric twists and turns. Still, the night ended with people begging for one more record as the house lights came up.
